Family-friendly Gites and a separate small Campsite in an idyllic location

Located in the southwest of France in the south of the Charente, bordering the Dordogne, Charente-Maritime and Gironde Départements, Chez Sarrazin offers excellent holiday accommodation for couples, families and small groups. We are a 25 minute stroll to a lively village with shops, bars and restaurants.  A large swimming lake with sandy beaches bars and restaurants is also within walking distance.

Both of our family-friendly gites are each very private and are separated both from each other and from the owners' house. Gite La Fleurette is a former farm-worker's cottage for up to 6 people plus a baby (or 8 if the separate Annex is also booked).  Gite L'Ecurie is a barn conversion offering quality accommodation for up to 10 people (plus babies).  We are happy to provide high-chairs and travel cots on request.  Both gites have been graded 3* by the French Tourist Board who inspect the properties regularly.

A small and intimate 6-pitch campsite is located well away from the gites so everyone enjoys great privacy. Each pitch is large and shady and there is a modern sanitary block with washing machine. Free wifi is provided across the campsite and around the pool.

There is an outstanding, shared, in-ground, 12m x 6m swimming pool set in beautiful gardens and with fabulous views over the valley.  Outdoor and indoor games are provided to keep everyone occupied. We are child-friendly!

Chez Sarrazin provides an excellent base to explore the sunny southwest of France and the many attractions of the Charente, Charente Maritime, Gironde and Dordogne. The quiet lanes are ideal for touring by car, bicycle or on foot to explore the beautiful rolling countryside, historic villages and towns, the lakes and the authentic local character such as markets, good restaurants, vineyards and cognac distilleries. The rural landscape is predominantly arable farmland, vineyards and large areas of pine and oak forestation.  July is the best month to see the huge number of sunflowers grown in this area of France.

Within easy reach are: the village of Brossac (a 25 minute walk) with its 3 restaurants and shops; the pretty town of Chalais with its wonderful Monday morning market (10 minute drive); and Aubeterre-sur-Dronne (officially listed as one of The Most Beautiful Villages in France, and awarded 2 stars in the Michelin Green Guide). Slightly further afield are: Royan on the Atlantic coast with its fantastic beaches; Bordeaux, the historic and cosmopolitan city; St Emilion and Cognac, known worldwide for their famous wine, cognac and pineau (a blend of grape juice and brandy); Périgueux; Brantome; Bourdeille; Bergerac; Riberac; Poitiers with the famous Futuroscope and the Vallée des Singes monkey park; and Angoulême, the walled capital of the Charente with shopping boulevards and historic buildings.

Art Courses with Stuart Davies. Just a 5-minute drive away, Stuart offers private and group instruction in oil painting at his studio.  For more information about art for sale by Stuart and the courses that he runs, please see www.stuartdaviesfineart.com.
